What We Repair

At the Repair Cafe we can deal with small, straightforward repairs.  So there will be some things we can try and repair, but others we cannot. If we cannot, this might be because it is too big or complex for a Repair Cafe, or because it is risky or dangerous in some way. Some areas are not covered by our insurance. Microwave ovens, for example, are excluded because they contain magnetrons with potentially toxic components. Here are examples of what we can and can't look at.

We Can Try To Repair

  • Electrical – Kitchen appliances, lamps, vacuum cleaners, electric garden utensils, etc.

  • Mechanical – non-electrical appliances, kitchen, garden/household utensils,

  • Mechanical lawn mowers, sharpening etc.

  • Electronic – radios, musical equipment, digital clocks, printers, etc.

  • Clothing/textiles – but generally not alterations or replacing zips

  • Furniture – chairs, cupboards, easily carried furniture.

  • Toys

  • Bicycles

  • Costume Jewellery – nothing valuable

  • PCs/Laptops – simple physical or software repairs.

  • Mobile phone software.

  • Clocks and Watches

Insurance does not cover us for the following items  

  • Microwave ovens,

  • Petrol operated items

  • Mobile phone hardware 

  • Tumble dryers

  • Washing machines

  • Fridges Freezers

  • Cookers

  • Air fryers

  • Dishwashers

  • Air conditioners

  • Ice makers

  • Water heaters
